Consul-General Dr. Fukahori’s attendance at the ‘Umeshu Virtual Tour’

On 10th February, Consul-General Dr. Fukahori attended an online promotional event about Umeshu i.e. plum wine (Umeshu Virtual Tour) conducted by EIJ Consulting Ltd. At this event, the Nakano BC Co. Ltd. from the Wakayama Prefecture gave a lecture on the history and charm of Umeshu. They also taught the participants how to drink Umeshu. The participants had a tasting of the Umeshu that had been distributed to them in advance.
Consul-General Dr. Fukahori said that the Indian cuisine known to Japan barely scratches the surface of the country’s cuisine and the same can be said about Japanese cuisine known to Indians. He remarked that Umeshu is one such part of the unknown Japanese cuisine. He hoped that the distribution of Umeshu in the Indian market would expand considerably in the future.
