2022/11/30
The Consulate-General of Japan in Mumbai along with Indo-Japan Business Council (IJBC) organised a 3 day Japanese Festival – Konnichiwa Pune – from 18th to 20th November 2022.

Commemorating the 70 years of diplomatic relations between Japan and India, the 3 day festival encompassed many different fields. The 1st day was dedicated to the business conference (at Hotel Sayaji) while the first half of the 2nd day was dedicated to the conference about education (at MCCIA). The latter half of the 2nd day as well as the 3rd day, held at Phoenix Marketcity, were full of cultural events. The events on all 3 days saw a large number of visitors/participants.

Deputy Chief of Mission, Mr. KANEKO attended the 1st 2 days of the festival. He  delivered a key note speech on “India and Japan: 70 years of Diplomatic Relations and Beyond” at the business conference. He also spoke about education in Japan for exchange students at the education conference.

At the Cultural Festival, the Consulate-General of Japan in Mumbai displayed Hina Dolls at its booth. We also held an origami workshop. Many people who visited the booth were interested in the Hina Dolls and the Consulate explained the significance of the Hina Dolls to the visitors.
Other events showcasing Japanese culture like Tea Ceremony Demonstration, Ikebana Demonstration, Bon Odori, Cosplay Competition, and Japanese dance by Indian students were also held at the Cultural Festival and enjoyed by all.
