Ceremony to confer appointment letter to Mr. KOSATO of “Japanese Cuisine Goodwill Ambassador”

On 6th February, a ceremony was held at the official residence of the Consul-General of Japan in Mumbai to confer the letter of appointment to Mr. KOSATO Hakuei, India Representative and Director for Kikkoman India and Director of Sushi and More India, who was appointed 'Japanese Cuisine Goodwill Ambassador' in December last year. This is the first such appointment in India. At the ceremony, the letter of appointment and badge were presented to Mr. KOSATO by Consul-General Dr. FUKAHORI as a representative of the Japanese government.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) has been appointing distinguished people involved in Japanese cuisine (Washoku) as Japanese Cuisine Goodwill Ambassadors since 2015, with the aim of increasing exports of Japanese agricultural, forestry and fishery products by promoting the appeal of Washoku and culinary culture overseas. After receiving the letter of appointment, Mr. KOSATO while expressing his gratitude to the Japanese Government said that Japanese food has become more popular in India as compared to 15 years ago when he set up his business in the country, but there was still a long way to go. He also expressed his ambition to continue to promote Japanese food in the region in the future.
