Consul-General Dr. FUKAHORI’s visit to Ahmedabad

From 30th January to 1st February, Consul-General Dr. FUKAHORI visited Ahmedabad and attended a variety of events.
 
1 Martial Arts Expo
  On 30th January, as part of the 'Japan Festival' organised by the Indo-Japan Friendship Association, Consul-General Dr. FUKAHORI attended a martial arts expo at Gujarat University and witnessed a demonstration by the Shorinji Kempo Club of Otemon Gakuin University (*) in Japan and a karate demonstration by the masters and students of a karate dojo in Ahmedabad.
*To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the start of the exchange between Gujarat University and Otemon Gakuin University, students from the university visited Ahmedabad and gave a demonstration of Shorinji Kempo.
 
In his speech, Consul-General Dr. FUKAHORI said it was very gratifying that karate is so popular in Ahmedabad. He also commented that it was wonderful that the exchange between Otemon Gakuin University and Gujarat University has continued for more than 50 years and has produced very important figures in India-Japan relations, such as Mr. Mukesh Patel, President of the Indo-Japan Friendship Association, and Mr. Sujan Chinoy, former Indian Ambassador to Japan. He expressed his hope that this inter-university exchange would continue for the next 60 or 70 years.

Karate Demonstration

2 Visit to Blind People’s Association Porecha Eye Hospital in Ahmedabad
  On 31st January, Consul-General Dr. FUKAHORI visited an eye hospital to which medical equipment had been provided as part of the FY 2019 Grant Assistance for Grassroots Project and exchanged views with hospital staff on healthcare in Ahmedabad. He confirmed that the medical equipment was being used effectively.

3 Visit to Otsuka Pharmaceutical India’s factory
  Consul-General Dr. FUKAHORI visited the Otsuka Pharmaceutical plant, where they were briefed on the company's activities in India and exchanged views. This was followed by a tour of the plant, where they were briefed on the manufacturing process of I.V. solutions and other aspects of the company's operations.
Consul-General Dr. FUKAHORI said that Otsuka Pharmaceutical was an example of a successful Japanese company in India and, as a pioneer, he hoped that they would promote the advantages of India to other Japanese companies. He also stated that the Japanese Institute of Manufacturing (JIM), which the company was conducting, was a very meaningful activity for Indians in the region, and he hoped that the company would continue to conduct it.
