Port Call at Mumbai by JS AKEBONO, Japan Maritime Self Defense Force

On October 11, a reception was held aboard JS AKEBONO, Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF), which was calling at Mumbai under the Indo-Pacific Deployment 2025 (IPD25). The reception was co-hosted by Consul-General YAGI Koji and Commander ARAI Katsutomo, Commanding Officer of JS Akebono.
 
The reception was attended by numerous guests, including officials from the Maharashtra State Government, such as Shri Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Minister of Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Government of Maharashtra; Cmde Prashant Chandrasekran, Commanding Officer of INS Angre and others from the Western Naval Command; Commander Richard Kemp, Commanding Officer of HMS Richmond, which was also visiting Mumbai at the same time as JS AKEBONO; the consular corps; and representatives from both countries. It served as a valuable opportunity to deepen the bonds of friendship and cooperation.
 
JMSDF is contributing to peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region by collaborating with the navies of allied and like-minded nations toward the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific.”
