His Majesty’s Birthday Reception

On February 21st, His Majesty’s Birthday Reception was held at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai. 

Hon’ble Mr. Rahul Narwekar, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of the Government of Maharashtra was the Chief Guest at this event while Hon’ble, Ms. Neelam Gorhe, the Deputy Chairperson of Maharashtra Legislative Council, and Hon’ble Ms. Manisha Mhaiskar, Additional Chief Secretary and Chief Protocol Officer of Government of Maharashtra, were the Guest of Honour. Around 280 guests from various local administrations, businesses, cultural organizations, and members of the Japanese Association of Mumbai attended this event. Mr. Ikeda, who is the Consul-General’s chef, made sushi, using seafood sourced from Japan, and Japanese alcoholic beverages were also served at the reception. Japanese administrative agencies, municipal governments, and cultural organizations set up exhibition and PR booths.
 
At the beginning of his speech, Consul-General Dr. FUKAHORI mentioned that India is an important and strategic partner for Japan in the fields of politics, diplomacy, and security, emphasizing the importance of strengthening its economic ties with India whose economy is drastically improving. He also introduced the newly appointed Honorary Consul of Japan in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, Mr. Mukesh Mangalbhai Patel, and celebrated the historical moment in Japan-India diplomatic relations as he would be the first Honorary Consul of Japan in India. Dr. FUKAHORI concluded his speech by expressing the Emperor's strong desire for world peace and his wish for further progress in Japan-India relations as well as world peace and prosperity.
