<Inauguration of The Project for the Provision of Medical Equipment for Desai Eye Hospital in Pune City>

Mr. Ryoji Noda, Consul-General of Japan in Mumbai, Mr. Nitin Desai, Chairman of The Poona Blind Men’s Association, and the PBMA’s H.V. Desai Eye Hospital staffs, total about 200 people attended the inauguration. Mr. Desai, Chairman of the organization, extended his gratitude for the assistance from the people and government of Japan. This newly procured medical equipment for eye surgery and examination will reduce the number of avoidable blindness of marginalized patients suffering from cataract and other eye diseases.

Mr. Noda appreciated The Poona Blind Men’s Association’s contribution to the high quality eye care services with minimum charges development for over the decades. Mr. Noda also expressed the hope that the assistance provided by Japan would save the sight of needy people suffering from eye diseases and strengthen the friendship between India and Japan.

Through aforementioned project, medical equipment for eye examination and operation to aim at reduction of blindness were procured.
