< Grant Contracts Signed in FY 2010 >
Consulate-General of Japan sanctioned grants for following projects.
1) Name of the Project: The Project for Construction of Community Care Centre with District Coordination Office for HIV/AIDS and its Preventive Education Project: The grant will be utilized to construct the Community Care Centre which will house 15-bedded hospital to provide medical treatment, care, psycho-social support to people suffering from HIV/ AIDS besides district coordination office. The centre will also be engaged in creating awareness about HIV/AIDS and act as district referral centre for information and support services for HIV/AIDS.
2) Name of the Project: The Project for the Construction of Training cum Processing Centre in Non Timber Forest Products for Improving the Livelihoods of the Tribal Population Project: The grant will be utilized to construct Training cum Processing Centre in Non Timber Forest Products and procure necessary machines and accomodation facilities for the centre in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh.
3) Name of the Project: The Project for the Construction of a Destitute Home for Boys Project: The grant will be utilized to construct a Destitute Home to accomodate one hundred poor and orphan boys in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra.
4) Name of the Project: The Project for the Construction of Training Centre for Tribes, Self Help Groups and Teachers Project: The grant will be utilized to construct Training Centre for Tribes, Self Help Groups and Teachers in Satara district of Maharashtra
Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP) scheme:
The Government of Japan offers a financial assistance scheme called “Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP)” for development projects designed to meet the diverse basic human needs of the people in developing countries.
This GGP scheme supports projects implemented by non-profit organizations such as NGOs, medical/educational institutes and local governments, who are eligible to receive foreign funds under the concerned law of the Government of India. The major priority areas of the GGP scheme are basic health care, primary education, poverty alleviation, safe drinking water and sanitation, environment conservation, public welfare, empowerment of women etc.
The GGP has acquired an excellent reputation worldwide for providing timely support to the development projects, which directly benefit the local communities at the grassroots level.
