< "THE SPIRIT OF BUDO" - Exhibition on the History of Japan's Martial Arts >

   The Consulate General of Japan, Mumbai in cooperation with The Japan Foundation and Teachers's Association of Japanese have organized 'The Spirit of Budo', an exhibition on The History of Japan's Martial Arts.
   The exhibition consists of two parts: in the first the development and changes of Japanese martial arts from the 8th century to 19th century are explained with reproductions/originals of historical weapons such as bows and arrows, suits or armor, helmets and the second part of the exhibition deals with the reorganization of bujutsu to budo in the 19th and 20th centuries and how spirit of martial arts is still inherent in the daily life of the Japanese people today. Nine budo associations are introduced with the display of the clothes and implements such as bamboo swords, protectors, bows and arrows which are used by players and students in the present day.
