< Exhibition of "The Dolls of Japan" in Pune >

The Consulate General of Japan in Mumbai, Japan Foundation and the Indo-Japanese Association, Pune will organise an Exhibition of the "The Dolls of Japan" at the Balgandharva Art Gallery in Pune.

The exhibition will be inaugurated by Mr. S. D. Phadnis, Senior Artist, Illustrator and Cartoonist on Friday, 12th November 2010 at 17:30 hrs.

Date: 13th November 2010 ~ 21st November 2010

Timing : From 10:30 hrs to 20:00 hrs

Venue : Balgandharva Art Gallery, Jangli Maharaj Road, Shivaji Nagar, Pune-411004

Japan enjoys a rich culture of dolls.  Old Japanese traditions have fostered the unique culture of dolls.  Japanese dolls are characterized by their serene facial expressions and beautiful colours showing the richness of ancient costume and pageantry.   Each doll has its own distinct meaning and purpose, and is deeply connected to daily life.  The exhibition introduces a fine variety of dolls.
